Ms. Maja Daruwala is the Convenor and Chief Editor, India Justice Report (IJR). For 20 years, she was the Director of CHRI. A Barrister from Lincoln’s Inn, she has been advocating for rights and social justice for over four decades. Her special interests lie in civil liberties, gender equality, systems reform, rule of law, accountability, promoting access to information, and access to justice. She was Senior Advisor to the Tata Trusts. She is a Board Member of the Population Foundation of India—concerned with women’s health and reproductive rights—and the Centre for Social Justice, Gujarat which promotes civil liberties and the rights of vulnerable groups. She is on the advisory board of the Global Governance Forum. Previously she chaired the Minority Rights Group (London), International Women’s Health Coalition and Oxfam-GB. She also served as External Advisor for the World Bank Group’s Governance and Anticorruption Strategy.
